Subject: 1889 Fireplace is it Granite or Marble

So how do I restore them? what can i use to clean it with?
The mantle piece is not physically attached, it just sits on top but is EXTREMELY heavy! What do you suggest? Any suggestions would be appreciated. It is an absolutely beautiful fireplace that I would like to bring back to life! Thank you for your help!
